Quality Control Tech

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Develops an understanding of the Company's quality control program, standards, procedures, and codes.
  • Conducts in process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections of manufactured steel products in accordance with AWS D1.1
  • Verifies and maintains inspection and test status of product during all stages of manufacturing, including receiving, in-process, final, and shipping.
  • Verifies rework and repair of nonconforming products.
  • Initiates requests for corrective action on observed conditions which do not conform to quality system requirements.
  • Attends daily start-up meetings to review production schedule and receive daily job assignments.
  • Prepares and reviews Quality records appropriate to inspection and test activities to assure legibility, completeness, and correctness of the information.
  • Uses various dimensioning tools such as tape measures, combination squares, levels, etc. when conducting dimensional inspections.
  • Visually inspects all manufactured parts (or a representative number) to ensure they are manufactured per the drawings/specifications.
  • Inspects pole sections that have been painted or galvanized.
  • Assists in maintaining work performance records, inspection records and other related documents ensuring correctness of all documents.
  • Ensures that customer requirements are determined and met, with the aim of enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Cross trains in other areas of the Quality Department and assists other areas as needed.
  • Performs work in indoor or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in area of operation.

Requirements:
  • Recent experience working with Quality Control in a welding/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold.
  • This position works a majority of the time in a loud and dusty environment.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships with co-workers and other internal customers.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced team environment.

Electrical Maintenance

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Performs diagnosis, testing, disassembly, inspecting, repair and re-assembly of plant equipment or components such as hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, hydraulic shear, vacuum equipment, roller leveler, cranes, electrical boards and components, etc.
  • Performs skilled trouble shooting and servicing of pneumatic and hydraulic components
  • Performs proper replacement and/or adjustment of mechanical clutches, drive trains, etc.
  • Repairs worn parts, straightens and fabricates fixtures (welding, cutting, brazing, and surface hardening applications)
  • Troubleshoot 24/12VDC circuits (control power on all equipment in the plant) through 480V 60 amp circuits. Read electrical schematics and diagnose location of issues. Troubleshoot coils and solenoids on Hydraulic Press
  • Installation and movement of equipment - adding welders or moving equipment
  • Work with manufactures to troubleshoot and diagnose controls issues over the phone
  • Installation and troubleshooting of electrical motors. Rewiring of the starters and contactors in the overhead cranes and Magnet systems
  • Assemble, install, test, repair and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and building fixtures
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring and equipment using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and megger meters to ensure compatibility and safety of systems
  • Knowledge and some troubleshooting of VFD’s
  • Assists junior personnel and operators in proper direction of equipment repairs
  • Performs major and general repairs on all equipment
  • Records labor and material used on each repair made
  • Takes proper care and use of test equipment
  • Properly uses lift equipment (cranes, booms, manlifts, cherry picker, etc.)
  • Exercises communication skills pertaining to the job
  • Occasionally will be called during irregular hours to handle production coverage with little or no supervision
  • Employee will use overhead cranes to transport and move material. Overhead crane training will be required
  • Reports all abnormal conditions and safety hazards to supervisor
  • Performs housekeeping and other routine tasks as directed
  • Works safely, and to follow safe working practices, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and other safety procedures

Requirements:
  • Three years of electrical and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Licensed electrician is desired
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and other industry computer applications
  • Must learn how to effectively use the Epicore/Vantage computer system to report data, check job schedules, inventory levels, routings, bill of materials, as well as train new and existing employees
  • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural schematics
  • Ability to convert inch to metric
  • Ability to use gauging equipment from .001” up, dial indicators, micrometers, feeler gauges, etc.

Pre-Engineering Technician I

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Applies engineering principles to the design of structures and their components or assemblies
  • Review and design all monopoles, guyed structures, self-supports, concealment and pipe pole structures for quoting purposes
  • Prepares creative designs or related drawings or details; uses designs to develop specifications or estimates of materials needed for a project
  • Provides guidance to Estimation, Sales, Drafting, Contracts, Catalog and Engineering departments
  • Review and evaluate customer request
  • Aid assigned Regional Sales Manager in review and evaluation of customer requirements
  • Compile project costs by analyzing project details using company computer hardware and software
  • Assure accurate estimates by gathering specifications, drawings and related documents for complete project information
  • Present prepared estimates to the Regional Sales Manager
  • Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information in order to detect problems with costing methods, assumptions and procedures

Welders

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
Qualified individuals will be responsible to perform the following duties.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manually positions pole assembly into pole rollers for welding.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and specifications to determine proper location of attachments, as well as weld size and configuration.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals.
  • Uses oxy-fuel torch to pre-heat parts to be welded in accordance with published welding codes and specifications
  • Uses GMAC or FCAW welding process to weld small components or assemblies.
  • Works in confined areas at various locations on the small pole assembly line as necessary to weld components.
  • Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinders, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded areas.
  • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill carious size holes on pole assembly as required by drawings and specifications.
  • Visually inspects work to identify material discrepancies and to ensure that welds have been completed in compliance with applicable drawings and specifications.
  • Uses a weld gauge to measure weld size.
  • Reads and interprets work orders and daily production schedules.
  • Assists fitters in assembly as needed.  
  • Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finder to measure distances and angles.
  • Uses oxy-fuel cutting torch and plasma-arc torch to cut steel.
  • Operates assembly line conveyor system to move tubular shafts into position for cutting on band saw and for fitting.
  • Operates band saw for cutting tubular shafts according to specifications.


Requirements:
  • Must have a mathematical aptitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Basic knowledge of shop mathematics to include: addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and decimals is required
  • Must be proficient in reading complete prints, specifications and have the ability to use different types of measuring devices and gages
  • Previous mig welding experience

Maintenance Technician

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:

Estimator I

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Assure accurate estimates by gathering specifications, drawings and related documents for complete project information
  • Compile project costs by analyzing project details using company computer hardware and software
  • Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information in order to detect problems with costing methods, assumptions and procedures
  • Present prepared estimates to the Regional Sales Manager by assembling and organizing numerical and descriptive cost information in a format approved by the company
  • Aids assigned Regional Sales Manager by facilitating customer requests and addressing questions or concerns via customer phone call, email or facsimile
  • Contributes to the team effort by effectively communicating and working well with members of the Estimation group as well as other departments and personnel to accomplish assigned tasks and projects as needed
  • Assists in carrying out other departmental duties as needed

Requirements:
  • 2 years recent experience in construction, engineering or customer service preferred
  • Ability/familiarity with construction drawing and/or blue prints desired
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills required
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required

Welder/Fitter

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Uses the Flux Cored Arc Welding process to tack weld various small components to round or formed shafts to make a pole assembly for the welder to weld
  • The pole assembly generally consists of a round tube or formed shaft, baseplate, hand hole, arm mounting simplex, tenon top, vangs, step lugs, ladder clips, and/or other small parts
  • Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly
  • Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 lbs
  • Read and interpret drawings to assure proper location of various small part attachments
  • Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications
  • Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
  • Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel
  • Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts
  • Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts
  • Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing
  • Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face
  • Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures by changing tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve
  • Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinder, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded area
  • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing
  • Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, welding cap, leather sleeves, and/or cape, and welding hood for protection against hot metal, arc rays, and grinding debris
  • Performs visual inspecting and identifies material discrepancies to assure welds have been completed satisfactorily in compliance with applicable drawings and specifications
  • Uses a weld gauge to measure weld size

Requirements:
  • Must have 4 or more years in welding using flux core or metal core, experience in fit up work following blueprint specs and in the utility pole industry or 1 inch plate
  • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals
  • Proficiency in reading complex prints and specifications
  • Know how to properly use a weld gauge
  • Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift (lifting, pushing, prying, and dragging heavy materials)
  • Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over and occasional climbing

QC-UT Level II Inspector

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all inspection functions to the requirements of ASNT SNT TC-1A for a UT Level II AWS Weld Inspector
  • Perform Visual and Ultrasonic Weld Inspections to the requirements of AWS D1.1
  • Cross train in other areas of Quality Control department and fill in when need arises
  • Ensure that all documentation is accurately and neatly completed
  • Keep pass down log accurate
  • Comply with Sabre Tubular Structures safety standards at all times
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with personnel of Quality department and all departments at Sabre
  • Participate in the training process of UT Level I Inspectors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • One year in Quality Control or related field; welding background a plus.

Kettle Operator

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect all lifting equipment prior to use (forklifts, cranes, monorails, chains, slings, etc)
  • Operation of overhead cranes and monorails
  • Inspect all material before galvanizing to insure material meets all Sabre Safety guidelines and procedures
  • Monitoring proper kettle settings
  • Add zinc and other alloys to the kettle as necessary in order to maintain proper levels and proper quality of product
  • Sweep ash from the kettle on a continual basis and store ash in barrels for later use
  • Dross kettle (remove sludge) on a predetermined schedule according to Sabre guidelines
  • Inform Kettle Lead of any quality concerns and/or maintenance problems
  • Ensure all galvanized products meet Sabre quality requirements, minimize downtime and promote efficiency and uptime
  • Communicate all safety concerns or accidents to the Plant Supervisor immediately

Requirements:
  • Prior galvanizing experience is desired but not a requirement
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
  • Must be able to obtain STS forklift/crane certification
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs
  • Must be physically able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Must be capable of boarding and unboarding trucks for inspection and/or rigging

IBeam Racking/Finishing

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Punch holes in all products that enter the Beam Building
  • Runs, maneuvers, navigates or drives heavy equipment or mechanized equipment in shipping/receiving area, such as forklifts, cranes/overhead cranes, trucks, etc.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Observe and receive information from all relevant sources

Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment under immediate supervision, for long shift periods, including some weekends
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your body such as: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Must possess manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
  • Use of grinding tools and power cords
  • Forklift experience

Racking Specialist

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Un-rack galvanized materials
  • Count, mark, tag to identify parts, customers and job numbers
  • Clean galvanized products using hand files, grinders, wire brushes, etc.
  • Remove sharp edges, excess galvanizing, by hand or with tools
  • Tap nuts inside and outside of hollow structure
  • Lift parts manually or with forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Identify voids in galvanized coatings and repair using hot sticks, brush on paint, aerosol paints, liquid zinc, torches, etc.
  • Stack and/or palletize parts using pallets, dunnage, shrink wrap and banding materials
  • Weigh completed poles and/or parts
  • Wear appropriate protective equipment and follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Proper area housekeeping duties
  • Learn and use proper lifting techniques at all times

Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing (steel galvanizing) environment under immediate supervision, for long shift periods
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
Educational Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred

Maintenance Technician

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all equipment as required by the equipment supplier and Sabre operating guidelines
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all equipment
  • Fabricate necessary jigs, stands, racks, and specialized equipment, etc. as required
  • Work with and/or supervise specialized contract labor as required
  • Follow all maintenance schedules developed by the Maintenance Lead or the equipment manufacturer without compromise
  • Make recommendations to improve production flow, equipment performance, quality of product, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure machinery, tools, and equipment are in good working order, assists in solving quality problems, perform data collection, monitor processes, and product control as identified.
  • Communicate to the appropriate personnel any unusual operating conditions and/or safety concerns
  • Ensure quality product is being produced at the standard rate while minimizing scrap and downtime
  • Attend all specialized training courses as deemed necessary for equipment and/or repair

Requirements:
  • 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior galvanizing experience preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Effectively and safely utilizes ladders, manlifts, forklifts, overhead cranes, monorails, etc.
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures

Finishing Specialist

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Un-rack galvanized materials
  • Count, mark, tag to identify parts, customers and job numbers
  • Clean galvanized products using hand files, grinders, wire brushes, etc.
  • Remove sharp edges, excess galvanizing, by hand or with tools
  • Tap nuts inside and outside of hollow structure
  • Lift parts manually or with forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Identify voids in galvanized coatings and repair using hot sticks, brush on paint, aerosol paints, liquid zinc, torches, etc.
  • Stack and/or palletize parts using pallets, dunnage, shrink wrap or banding materials
  • Weigh completed poles and/or parts
  • Proper area housekeeping duties
  • Learn and use proper lifting techniques at all times

Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing (steel galvanizing) environment under immediate supervision for long shift periods, including some weekends.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Wear appropriate protective equipment and follow all safety rules and regulations to work safely
Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Shift:

  • Must be able to work days or nights on rotating shifts



CNC Programmer

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Uses Auto-Cad to interpret a print of a part to be burned, drilled, and/or punched for the purpose of supplying the CNC machines with needed information to produce the part
  • Communicates with Engineering, Production, and Material Management to keep abreast of changes in part dimensions, production scheduling of parts and manufacturing needs to complete order
  • Prepares material requirements for Purchasing Department and processes order for manufacturing
  • Utilizes excess inventory in the most efficient way to substitute and/or modify existing assemblies or parts to fill in existing orders
  • Updates program files in manufacturing CNC machines
  • Prepares anchor bolt setting templates

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to do basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, trigonometry, division and algebra, with both fractions and decimals
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Auto-Cad systems
  • SDS (Shop Data Systems) and ProNest experience a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings
  • Math aptitude and ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment
  • Thorough knowledge of all equipment and processesin the shop
  • Ability to react to change in a timely and organized manner
  • Knowledge and awareness of the safety issues related to each operation performed within the department
  • Adheres to safe practices at all times
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices
Educational Requirements:
  • Two year associates degree and/or 3 years previous manufacturing experience

Tower Technicians

Edmond, OK

Responsibilities:
Qualified individuals will be responsible to perform the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Coordinates activities with contractors and customers to complete assignments
  • Works with high voltage systems
  • Performs testing and problem-solving procedures on equipment
  • Climbs various types of cell towers and works with rooftop applications
  • Installs wireless equipment, on tower and ground
  • Installs mounts and antennas
  • Runs coax and secure it to tower
  • Installs connector ground kits
  • Consistent demonstration of meeting and performing to time tables and due dates
  • Maintain good interpersonal relationships and communication skills within a small group of co-workers

Requirements:
  • Climbing, anritsu, connector, and other wireless certifications are desirable, but not required
  • Must have 1-2 years in directly related wireless cell tower construction, including tower climbing, repelling, sweep testing, ginpole usage, stacking monopoles, erecting towers and other aspects
  • Must demonstrate computer literacy
  • Must be team-oriented and in good physical condition
  • Must have the following skills and abilities:
    • Knowledge of knots and rigging
    • Ability to follow an antenna plumbing chart
    • Knowledge in RET systems and installation
    • Knowledge in routing and supporting coax and jumpers
    • Knowledge in grounding specifications for all major carriers
    • Ability to be stationed and work out of manlift equipment
    • The ability to climb heights
  • Must be available to travel extensively within regional states, including overnight stays

  • Minimum Class D driver’s license


Civil Technicians

Edmond, OK

Responsibilities:
Qualified individuals will be responsible to perform the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs non-climbing general construction of tower sites to include, but not limited to: site layout, clearing, excavation, foundations/slabs, tower assembly, trenching/conduit installation, ice bridge, h-frames, fencing, aggregate roads/compounds, maintenance/repair and other tasks in accordance with specified work orders.
  • Picks-up/Delivers supplies, tools, equipment, components, etc., via company vehicle (towing trailer if applicable).
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all company-issued tools and equipment.
  • Maintains and submits complete and accurate files/logs/reports as determined by supervisor and/or other management personnel.
  • Develops and maintains a positive company image. Specifically:
    • Provides superior customer service, ensuring all essential job functions are performed in a timely, efficient, accurate, and safe manner
    • Adheres to all driving requirements as determined by State and Federal regulations.
    • Adheres to all Company and industry (i.e., OSHA) standards/regulations
    • Vehicle remains clean and presentable at all times

Requirements:
  • Must possess the ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
  • Be organized with strong attention to detail
  • Have the ability to work independently under limited supervision
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be a self starter, team player and results oriented
